Last month, the children at our Women and Family Development Center were blessed with new shoes courtesy of Trees of Hope, a nonprofit supporting the Children’s Critical Care Fund at Star of Hope Mission. The Trees of Hope Jr. Board members, comprised of all the children from the Trees of Hope Board of Trustees and some from their Advisory board, helped to raise the funds needed to purchase the shoes for each child at Star of Hope. They hand-selected each pair at Academy Sports + Outdoors.
Receiving these shoes was a delightful time for the children, as many of them had never received a brand-new pair of shoes. The joy on both the children’s and the mother’s faces was a great reminder of our mission here at Star of Hope. A new pair of shoes can be the greatest gift to those who are homeless. Simple items like this can seem unimportant to us, but to them, it means it alleviates the worry surrounding how to care for your child.
