Star of Hope Mission - Texans Care

Star of Hope welcomed 100 volunteers from the Houston Texans organization during the second annual Texans Care Volunteer Day on May 3.

During the special event, fans worked alongside Houston Texans players, cheerleaders, ambassadors and staff members to impact the hungry and homeless at Star of Hope.

“Star of Hope is such a special organization because it gives people who have nowhere else to turn a place to go,” said Kristin Putnam, Senior Community Relations Coordinator with the Houston Texans. “It provides opportunities to our most underserved to get a fresh start and empowers them to take control of their lives.”

Texans volunteers helped at the Transitional Living Center, a home for single women and families, while they gain skills on their path to independence. The hallways of this center were repainted to provide a greater living environment and volunteers trimmed the shrubs around the fence surrounding the center. These beautification projects allow Star of Hope to be a good neighbor in our community and to model those values for its clients.

“The Star of Hope Transitional Living Center was a great choice for our Texans Care Volunteer Day event,” Putnam said. “It was such a pleasure working with them to ensure a beautiful, clean facility for women and families who are looking to better their lives. Our Texans fans loved interacting with the staff and were proud to make a difference for Star of Hope.”
