Independent Living and Outreach Ministries
New Horizons and Jump Start provide a supportive environment for employed Star of Hope Mission program graduates to thrive and grow and avoid a return to homelessness.
Read More… Services include:
- a community of support including case management and social activities
- rental and childcare subsidies which decrease over time as families/individuals become more established in their new way of life
- financial coaching and classes to promote better money management skills
- accountability and emotional support to promote long-term sobriety and successful independent living
New Haven chronically homeless single men and women who have a mental, emotional, or physical disability, or experience co-occurring disorders (mental illness AND substance abuse issues). Read More… Services and support include:
- permanent housing and stability
- community support including case management and social activities
- transportation, education, enrichment, and encouragement from a Christian perspective
- classes, support groups, and one-on-one counseling for mental and physical health awareness, harm reduction, money management, and job/life skills to promote successful independent living
New Heights offers services to homeless families living in permanent supportive housing. Families are referred via the city’s Coordinated Access system. Services and support include:
- robust collaboration with New Hope Housing, Inc. (housing provider), Houston Housing Authority (voucher for rental assistance), Buckner Family Hope Center (children and family services including after school care, intensive family coaching, and more), and Star of Hope Mission to provide affordable, stable housing and supportive services for housing preservation
- transportation, education, enrichment and Christian encouragement
- classes, support groups, and one-on-one counseling for mental and physical health awareness, harm reduction, money management, and job/life skills to promote successful independent living
- a community providing staff and peer support

Welcome Star of Hope Alumni – One Family United!
The primary mission of the Star of Hope Alumni program and Extended Services Department is to help former clients of our programs (Women and Family Development Center at Star of Hope’s Cornerstone Community℠, New Horizons and New Haven) stay connected with one another and the Star of Hope community.
We have seen our Alumni achieve goals and dreams beyond what they could have believed upon entering our programs. We are proud and honored to have been a part of these dynamic changes and wonderful life events. We consider you a part of the Star of Hope Family! Read More…
