Get Help Give Now

Everyone has their breaking point. Sometimes it’s needed in order to remove you from bad situations and allow God to take over. At Star of Hope Mission, we strive to bring change to the lives of those in need. A resident by the name of Evelyn had a wake-up call. She ended a bad marriage and God changed her life. This is her story:

I was in an unhealthy relationship. My husband was using drugs, and I hoped he would change someday. Before we got married, he told me how he had been in and out of jail and rehabilitation centers, and that he had accepted Christ into his life. So, I took him at his word and married him. He did really great at the beginning, but to my surprise, he went back to his old ways. I knew I had to get out of this marriage, so I left and came to the Star of Hope.

I was in the New Hope program for three months and learned how to be more assertive, set boundaries, and avoid unhealthy relationships. These skills have helped me in my future relationship, and I was thankful for the knowledge that I received. I realized this must have been the path God had for me all this time, and I just needed to let Him order my steps … for I know He has a great plan for my life. My next steps are to go to personal development classes, pursue my career in Christian songwriting and maybe children’s books. I thank God for this Christian-based facility! I appreciate all the new hope staff, volunteers, and donors. God bless all of you and thank you all very much!

How amazing is this testimony? Evelyn has so much in store for her future and this would not have been possible without God’s help! Star of Hope Mission works to get Houston’s homeless back on their feet, and we could not do this without you. Because of your continuous support, Evelyn was able to get her life on the right track and has hope for new life! Thank you for caring for those in need.

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. – Jeremiah 29:11
