Star of Hope Mission Ending homelessness ... one life, one family at a time.

Greetings to each of you, this first week of October 2017! Wow…what a wild ride all of us in Houston and South Texas have been on this past month, via Hurricane Harvey! Many of you, our fellow friends have been impacted with flooding, and our prayers are with each and all of you as you work through this difficult challenge. Here at Star of Hope, we are also very busy serving our homeless guests around the city! Our Men’s Development Center has been full of activities including shelter extra men during the storm and great Spiritual Recovery Program and Client Services Program commencements during the past month, and Star of Hope’s Cornerstone Community℠ opened and moved 350 women and children in from our former Transitional Living Center and Women & Family Emergency Shelter just days before the Hurricane hit Houston. Two hundred additional beds were opened at Star of Hope’s Cornerstone Community℠ soon after the move, allowing Harvey victims and other homeless women and children to seek help at the new campus.

I want to take this moment to simply say, “THANK YOU” to each of you, for the incredible hearts you have for the homeless and for listening to the spirit of our LORD deep inside you that nudges you daily to serve His most loved ‘least and lost’ in our complex world.

The work we do here is inspired, it is empowered, and the results of it are eternal! The longer I serve here, the more I believe … that we can only do this work with God’s power and with His grace at work in us each day. It is simply too big, too overwhelming, and too demanding for us to do it on our own!

So as we enter the fourth quarter of 2017 … please know that all of us, here at Star of Hope greatly appreciate you! We pray daily for you and lift you up to our heavenly Father… WHO HAS OVERCOME THIS WORLD! May you have His PEACE in your heart today and every day, as we live life together and serve Him here at The Star of Hope Mission!

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have tribulation.
But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
