Did you know that our community is facing not only a housing crisis but also an issue of food insecurity? According to the Houston Food Bank, 1 in 5 people in their service area, which includes 18 counties, struggle with food insecurity. As a licensed clinical social worker and a board-approved supervisor in the State of Texas, I have worked with individuals and families for over two decades to help them secure adequate food.

Star of Hope has been providing meals to individuals and families for over 100 years. Last year alone, Star of Hope served 473,320 meals to those in need through its residential programs. Join with the Star of Hope in continuing its legacy in feeding the “least of these” in our community, today!

If you are in need of assistance, the following agencies and community partners provide services to those who are battling food insecurity in our community:

  • Houston Food Bank
  • Society of St. Vincent de Paul
  • Local churches
  • NAMI
