Get Help Give Now

Easter reminds me of the love God has for us. His sacrifice on the cross is a prime example of how much God truly cares and inspires me to share His unconditional love with others. Changing the lives of those we serve at Star of Hope, in need of guidance and a relationship with Him, can be done through showing God’s love. A resident by the name of Iris was on a downward spiral after her relationship came to an end, but God’s love saved her and helped fill the void in her heart … this is her story:

I came to Star of Hope because of a failed relationship. About three weeks later, I left because I was too ashamed to admit my struggle with drug abuse to God. In my heart, I knew it was not time for me to leave the Star of Hope, and I ended up relapsing. As things began to go downhill, I prayed for God to help me get off drugs, but I didn’t truly believe that could happen.

It wasn’t until I was honest with God, that He revealed to me how to pray according to His word. So, I prayed for God to give me the desire to get off drugs. After three months of abstinence, I received an eviction, became homeless, and returned to the Star of Hope. This time I completed the New Hope program! I received tools for my life in recovery and learned life skills to be more effective. Soon after, I was baptized as a symbol for accepting Jesus as my personal savior and ruler over my life.

Now I am ready to advance to the next phase of becoming self-sufficient. I plan to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant while attending a one-year Vocational Nursing Program. I would like to thank God and Star of Hope’s staff for their support and unconditional love during my time in the program. To the donors and volunteers, thank you for supporting Star of Hope Mission!

A failed relationship brought Iris to Star of Hope and ultimately gave her a relationship with Christ. She was lost and searching for things to fill a void until God brought her back to Star of Hope Mission where she was shown unconditional love. This Easter, I hope you all are reminded of God’s love for us and the sacrifice Jesus made on the Cross so we all may live free. Prayerfully consider giving to those in need and show them that same love God shows us each day. Thank you for supporting our mission!

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. – John 3:16

One day I was in the parking lot by the Star of Hope . I saw a van with people around it and I realized what was happening they were handing out food bags . I saw the look in one mans eyes how great full for the hand out that it touched my hart . Since that day I have been a supporter of Star of Hope . Love what the Mission is all about . God bless Star of Hope !!
