Raymond was 65 years old when he hit the wall. He looked in the mirror and knew he needed help.
It was now or never. He came to Star of Hope.
For the past 25 years he drank and took heavy drugs. Whenever Raymond tried to quit, he failed, and after a few weeks started back worse than ever. But now he has changed. Today he can go to a function where there is drinking and not even want it. “I’m through on that,” he said. “I guess you have to get old to look back down that road and see there isn’t nothing but trouble if you don’t do the right thing. Nothing will go right without God.”
These days Raymond likes spending time with his grandchildren and helping young people. “I want to get with them before they get wild and crazy.” He tells them, “Stay in church. Learn the golden rule.”If you tell Raymond he is looking good, he will agree with you. He has been known to hit the deck and give you 25 push-ups just to prove it.
“Before I came here I had money, but I was killing myself with it. But after all that running around I still have good health. I thank the Lord for that.” “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” – John 7:37-38
