Get Help Give Now

When Elizabeth lost her job, her family would not help her. They were not close. She had grown up in foster care. Therefore, when she lost her job, she had no one to ask what she should do. And so she lost her home too.

It is scary for a single woman to face hardships without others looking out for her. If there had been someone, Elizabeth may have been able to keep her home until she found a new job. But there was no one. She was alone. But not really. Growing up something very good happened to her. “I was born again at age 7,” she said. God was watching over His little one. And God guided Elizabeth to stay at Star of Hope. She made friends here and learned that she was not the only one who gets scared by this big and uncertain world. Others had problems too. They worried just like her. That was good for her to know.

Staying at Star of Hope taught Elizabeth life skills that will stay with her. She learned how to manage her money and save for the future. She improved her sewing skills — something she enjoys. She also discovered her desire to help people as a home-health worker. Her gentle, kind spirit will bring light into the homes of shut-ins and those living alone. “I finally have a better foundation,” Elizabeth said. She can do it. God will help her. He has in the past, and He will again.

Thank you for helping provide a new start for people like Elizabeth. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7, NIV
