Make this a Summer of Hope for families in need!

One-Time Opportunities and Special Projects

   for groups and individuals

Whether you are new to volunteering or you’re looking for a team building project, Star of Hope Mission has a variety of one-time opportunities and special projects. One-time projects are great for groups and individuals who have full calendars, but still want to make a difference. For some, volunteering at Star of Hope is their annual project while others schedule multiple dates throughout the year.

One-time projects are also a great way to learn what Star of Hope is all about. Throughout the year, Star of Hope also enlists volunteers to assist with special events. Many volunteers help with these events year-after-year. Not only do we value their faithfulness and commitment – we count on them!

Volunteer Opportunities: Find an opportunity from the list below and complete our Volunteer Interest Form. A member of our Volunteer Services Team will contact you for availability and scheduling.

Assist in the Kitchen

We serve three meals a day, 365 days each year, at all three facilities. What an opportunity to encourage and uplift as you hand a meal tray to our clients. This can be scheduled for an individual volunteer on a regular basis or for a small group of 10 on a regular or one-time basis. Volunteers help set-up, serve and clean-up. (The number of volunteers varies per kitchen: Men's Development Center - 10; Women & Family Emergency Shelter - 6; Transitional Living Center - 6.) Lunch and dinner shifts available throughout the week.

Snacks & Goodnight

Monday – Sunday evenings at the Transitional Living Center (TLC)
Friday – Sunday only at the Women & Family Shelter

For volunteers of all ages, this project has become a tremendous hit! Thanks to the snacks you provide, our clients end the day with a delicious blessing. At TLC, volunteers arrive at 7:45 p.m. to set-up. Clients are invited to come by for a snack beginning at 8:00. Snack time is over at 8:30. Volunteers sweep up and are out the door. At the Women & Family Shelter, everything happens 30 minutes earlier.

Volunteers are asked to adhere to the following schedule:
Tuesday – peanut butter & jelly finger sandwiches
Wednesday – cookies
Thursday – fruit or veggie trays
Friday – cookies
Saturday – pudding cups, Jell-O cups or fruit cups
Sunday – rice crispy treats or granola bars

Donation and Distribution Center Volunteer Groups

Donated items must be sorted, boxed, labeled and palletized for distribution. Small, organized groups of 15 or less can be scheduled during the business day, Monday - Friday. Group opportunities are available some Saturdays.
